Development Engineer: Mechanical Systems Modeling

Our mechanical systems development group is seeking a modeling engineer specializing in mechanical
systems. The engineer in the position will work, alongside other specialists, on the development
of the GT-SUITE multi-body dynamics, kinematics and flexible-body modeling elements, and their
integration with fluid/hydraulic and  electromagnetic system models, within a mature and modern
software architecture and a collaborative development environment. Model development projects cover
both general-purpose mechanical elements and their adaptation to engine, vehicle and other automotive
mechanical subsystems such as cranktrains, valvetrains, gear/belt/chain drives, pumps, transmissions,
suspensions, steering and mobile hydraulics. The individual will also work closely with GT Product
and Application engineers to select appropriate physical modeling levels, to choose model user inputs
and to design ease-of-use features, in order to best meet end user requirements.  Development projects
often also involve collaboration with GT-SUITE licensee companies worldwide, who may provide guidance,
specifications and experimental data used for model validation.

Highly Desirable Qualifications and Background
    •    Theory of mechanical system dynamics
    •    Multi-body dynamics modeling architectures and solution methods
    •    Flexible bodies and the FEA methodology
    •    Theory of hydrodynamic lubrication and bearings
    •    Strong applied math and structured programming skills
    •    A passion for computational modeling in general
    •    An interest in automotive applications

Required Qualifications:
    •    M.S. or Ph.D in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Mechanics
    •    GPA of 3.5 or higher
    •    Research or industrial experience with computational mechanics

Those meeting these qualifications and interested in a challenging position at GTI are encouraged to forward their resume to job.posting@gtisoft.com.
